Golubev won the 2010 International German Open, an ATP 500 event, to claim Kazakhstan's first-ever ATP Tour title in the Open Era. In 2021, he reached the French Open men's doubles final with Alexander Bublik, becoming the first Kazakhstani male players to contest a major final.
