About this person
Aleksey Anatolyevich Uminsky was born 3 July 1960 and became an Eastern Orthodox priest in Russia. From 1993 he served as rector of Moscow's Church of the Life-Giving Holy Trinity, a post he held for over thirty years. In early January 2024 he was suspended from ministry and brought before an ecclesiastical court, which on 13 January ruled he was subject to defrocking for violating his priestly oath. Six weeks later, on 27 February 2024, the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople received him and restored him to the holy priesthood as a protoiereus. Since April 2024 he has served as a cleric at the Church of the Sign of the Mother of God in Paris under the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of France.
