6th-century founder of Rifa'i Sufi Order
Aḥmad ibn ʽAlī al-Rifāʽī was a Sunni Muslim preacher, ascetic, mystic, jurist, and theologian, known for being the eponymous founder of the Rifaʽi tariqa of Islam. The Rifaʽi order had its greatest following until it was overtaken by the Qadiri order. The Rifaʽi order is most commonly found in the West Asia, the Balkans and South Asia.
