British nurse, played a leading role in modern nursing education in Japan (1842–1942)
Agnes Vetch (1842–1942) was a Scottish nurse. She was among the first women admitted to the Nurse Training School at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh (RIE). After working in Edinburgh and London, she travelled to Japan, where she helped introduce professional nursing practices based on the principles of Florence Nightingale.
