Abraham Mapu was a Lithuanian novelist. He wrote in Hebrew as part of the Haskalah (enlightenment) movement. His novels depict biblical settings featuring themes of heroism, adventure, and romantic love. Some scholars have argued that they influenced early Zionist thought.
