Abdullah bin Hussein was born in Amman on 30 January 1962, first child of King Hussein and Princess Muna. He was heir apparent as an infant, then lost the title to his uncle in 1965, spending his youth in schools abroad before joining the Jordanian Armed Forces in 1980. He rose to command the Special Forces in 1994, became a major general in 1998, and married Rania Al-Yassin in 1993, with whom he has four children. I and countless other Muslims, have been taught from our earliest years that our religion demanded respect and caring for others.
I am outraged and grieved by the recent attacks in some countries against Christian and minority communities. This is an offense against humanity as well as Islam.
