To Titus, a true son in our common faith:
Early Christian missionary and church leader
Paul's right hand in the church-planting trade: the Gentile convert who carried the apostle's hardest letters, ran the money for Jerusalem's poor, and built the first Christian structure across Crete.
A Gentile who came to the faith through Paul, Titus moved in the inner circle of the early mission. Paul sent him to Corinth with a fundraising appeal for Jerusalem's poor—Jerome later claimed Titus penned 2 Corinthians as Paul dictated. Afterward Paul deployed him to Crete, where Titus appointed presbyters in every city and shaped the island's church from the ground. Tradition holds he stayed through old age and died in Gortyna, the first bishop of Crete.
Sourced, dated quotes from Saint Titus
To Titus, a true son in our common faith:
Then after fourteen years I went up again to Jerusalem with Barnabas, and also took Titus with me.
I urged Titus, and sent our brother with him. Did Titus take advantage of you? Did we not walk in the same spirit? Did we not walk in the same steps?
But thanks be to God who puts the same earnest care for you into the heart of Titus.
