Italian painter
A Florentine painter known by his hair color — "the Redhead" — who worked in the Mannerist style that bent Renaissance rules into something stranger and more unsettled.
Giovanni Battista di Jacopo was born on 8 March 1495 and earned his nickname, Rosso Fiorentino, from his red hair. He belonged to the Florentine school and became a Mannerist painter, working in both oil and fresco. He died on 14 November 1540.
