Narcos followed in 2015, where he played Javier Peña through 2017. Then came The Mandalorian in 2019, a masked Din Djarin who turned him into a global name, and The Last of Us in 2023, where his Joel Miller earned him an Actor Award for Outstanding Male Actor in a Drama Series and a reputation for playing adoptive fathers with unexpected warmth. Time named him one of the 100 most influential people in the world in 2023. He made his Broadway debut in a 2019 King Lear as Edmund, and the Marvel machine pulled him in as Reed Richards for The Fantastic Four: First Steps in 2025, with Avengers: Doomsday waiting in 2026.
