Luis Antonio Tagle

Luis Antonio Tagle was born June 21, 1957, and rose through the Philippine church as bishop of Imus starting in 2001, then as Manila's 32nd archbishop from 2011 to 2020. In December 2019 he was pulled to Rome to lead a section of the Dicastery for Evangelization, the Vatican office that oversees mission territories and new churches. He became cardinal bishop of Albano and took on a stack of curial roles: president of the Catholic Biblical Federation, grand chancellor of the Pontifical Urbaniana University, and seats on multiple commissions.
