Biography

About

Born on 2 January 1903, Kane Tanaka became Japan's oldest verified person and, following Chiyo Miyako's death on 22 July 2018, the world's oldest living person. She carried that distinction for nearly four years, her longevity a quiet defiance of every actuarial table. When she died on 19 April 2022, she had lived 119 years and 107 days — a span exceeded by only one other human being in verified history.
