About

Born around 90–100 AD, Justin came to Christianity as a trained philosopher and never stopped thinking like one. His First Apology made the case directly to Emperor Antoninus Pius: stop the persecutions, because Christians live moral lives and the Logos they follow had appeared in fragments throughout history, even among the Greeks. He taught that the truth Socrates and Plato glimpsed was the same truth now incarnate in Christ. Around 165, during the reign of Marcus Aurelius, Justin and several of his students were executed for refusing to sacrifice to the Roman gods. The Catholic, Eastern Ort…
