2nd King of Joseon Dynasty (1357 - 1419)
The second king of Korea's Joseon dynasty, who held the throne between his father—the founder—and the power struggle that would define the royal house for generations.
Born Yi Bang-gwa on 26 July 1357, he was the second son of King Taejo, the man who established Joseon. He later changed his name to Yi Gyeong. He became the dynasty's second monarch, ruling in the narrow space between his father's founding reign and whatever came after. He died on 24 October 1419, sixty-two years old.
