Born 26 July 1791, Franz Xaver Wolfgang Mozart was the last of six children and one of only two to survive infancy. His father died before he turned five months old. He became a composer, pianist, conductor, and teacher, working in the late classical period with a style that leaned into early Romanticism and bore the heavy influence of his father's mature works. He moved in serious circles — Franz Schubert and Robert Schumann both knew him and held him in high esteem.
