About this person
Emilia Isobel Euphemia Rose Clarke, born 23 October 1986, made her television debut at 22 with a guest spot on the BBC medical soap Doctors in 2009. Two years later she landed Daenerys Targaryen in HBO's Game of Thrones, a role that ran eight seasons (2011-2019) and made her internationally recognized. The momentum carried her into franchise territory: Sarah Connor in Terminator: Genisys (2015), Qi'ra in Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018), romantic leads in Me Before You (2016) and Last Christmas (2019). She took Holly Golightly to Broadway in 2013's Breakfast at Tiffany's, played Nina in a West End Seagull, and returned to television as G'iah in Marvel's Secret Invasion miniseries in 2023. The through-line is range stretched across blockbusters, stage, and the role that remains the measuring stick.
