One of the Ten Blessed Companion
One of Muhammad's companions who combined commercial fortune with spiritual standing — among the ten men the Prophet explicitly promised Paradise.
Born 'Abd Amr ibn 'Awf around 581, he later took the name 'Abd al-Rahman. He became a companion of Muhammad and distinguished himself both in faith and in commerce, amassing significant wealth while remaining close to the Prophet. Islamic tradition counts him among an exclusive circle: the ten companions to whom Paradise was promised during their lifetimes. He died in 654, leaving a legacy that tied material success to early Islamic piety.
