## Bio

Oluwatobi Wande Ojosipe was born on 18 October 1985 in Nigeria and adopted the stage name Wande Coal early in his career as a singer and songwriter. He rose through Lagos's music scene writing melodies that straddled R&B smoothness and the percussive swing of Afrobeat, carving out a lane that would influence a generation of artists chasing crossover sound. His work helped define the template for what Nigerian pop could be when it stopped choosing between local and global. The name still carries weight in rooms where the genre's architects are named.
