Timothy Donald Cook was born November 1, 1960, and joined Apple in March 1998 as a senior vice president for worldwide operations, then rose to chief operating officer under Jobs. On August 24, 2011, after Jobs resigned, Cook was appointed CEO — a handoff that meant stepping into the shadow of a legend. He replaced Jobs' micromanagement with a more collaborative culture, advocated for privacy reform and environmental preservation, and between 2011 and 2020 steered Apple's market value from $348 billion to $1.9 trillion; by 2025 the company posted $416 billion in revenue, second among tech firms.
