## Bio

Terry Guo was born 18 October 1950 and founded Foxconn in 1974, growing it from a small operation into the world's largest contract electronics manufacturer and Taiwan's biggest exporter. By 2024 his net worth stood at $10.4 billion. In 2019 he resigned from Foxconn to join the Kuomintang and seek the presidency, claiming divine instruction from Mazu - he came second in the primary and left the party. He rejoined in 2023 for another run, this time as an independent, but withdrew in late November 2023. Xi Jinping once called him an "old friend"; Guo has been friendly to mainland business interests, lobbied Beijing in 2022 to ease zero-COVID rules, criticized Taiwan independence, and called for calmer U.S.-China relations. International press compared him to Donald Trump - a billionaire outsider promising to shake things up.
