# Stephan Eicher

> Stephan Eicher sings in five languages - sometimes in the same song. That multilingual fluency turned a Swiss musician into a chart presence across Europe, carving out a career that refuses to stay in one lane or one tongue.

## Bio

Born 17 August 1960, Eicher first broke through in German-speaking countries during the 1980s as part of the band Grauzone, landing a hit with Eisbär. He went solo and kept moving: singing in French, German, English, Italian, Swiss German, and Romansh, often code-switching mid-track. Combien de Temps and Oh Ironie became hits, spreading his reach into France and Switzerland. Albums followed, then tours, then chart runs that confirmed what the language-hopping suggested - he wasn't playing to one audience.
