## Bio

Born 19 August 1967, Satya Narayana Nadella is an Indian-American business executive who spent years inside Microsoft building the cloud and enterprise group before most people knew what Azure was. When Steve Ballmer stepped down in 2014, Nadella became CEO and made the computing platforms he'd been running the center of everything. Seven years later, in 2021, he added chairman to the title, succeeding John W. Thompson. The move from executive vice president to the top reshaped both the man's profile and the company's direction.
