## Bio

Roger Meddows Taylor was born 26 July 1949 and joined Queen as drummer and backing vocalist, a combination that became his signature — the countertenor range let him split leads and harmonies on his own compositions. He wrote or co-wrote at least one track per album, including "These Are the Days of Our Lives", "Innuendo" and "Under Pressure", all of which hit number one in the UK. During the 1980s he ran a parallel band called the Cross, sang lead and played rhythm guitar, and turned up as a panellist on the quiz show Pop Quiz. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001. He has since produced albums for Virginia Wolf, Jimmy Nail and Magnum, collaborated with Eric Clapton, Robert Plant, Foo Fighters and a long list of others, and fathered Rufus Tiger Taylor, now the drummer for The Darkness.
