## Bio

Born August 17, 1943, De Niro trained at HB Studio, Stella Adler Conservatory, and Lee Strasberg's Actors Studio before breaking through in Mean Streets in 1973. A year later he won Best Supporting Actor for The Godfather Part II, the first male to win for an Italian-language performance. Six years later Raging Bull brought him Best Actor. The run that followed - Taxi Driver, The Deer Hunter, The King of Comedy, Once Upon a Time in America, Goodfellas, Heat, Casino - built a filmography so dense with classics that six of his films now sit in the National Film Registry. He stretched into comedy with Midnight Run and the Meet the Parents series, directed A Bronx Tale and The Good Shepherd, and kept earning nominations into his seventies for Silver Linings Playbook and Killers of the Flower Moon. In 1989 he and producer Jane Rosenthal founded TriBeCa Productions; in 2002 they launched the Tribeca Film Festival.
