## Bio

Ricardo Benjamín Salinas Pliego was born 19 October 1955 and went on to found Grupo Salinas, a sprawling corporate machine with arms in telecommunications, media, financial services, and retail. The structure gave him reach across daily life in Mexico: the channels people watched, the networks they called on, the credit they accessed, the stores they walked into. By February 2021 his net worth sat at $13.6 billion, making him the third richest person in Mexico, 172nd globally, and seventh in Latin America. He chairs the conglomerate still and speaks openly for libertarianism, turning ideology into a second public brand alongside the business empire.
