## Bio

Nikolas Ferreira de Oliveira was born in 1996 and entered politics young, winning a Belo Horizonte city council seat in 2020 as the second-most-voted candidate. Two years later he vaulted to the national stage, capturing a Chamber of Deputies seat for the Liberal Party with a record-breaking tally - the most votes ever for that office in Minas Gerais history. He calls himself a right-wing Christian, gun enthusiast, and family defender, and his social media reach rivals veteran lawmakers. The notoriety has been double-edged: he has faced accusations of spreading false information, promoting negationist ideas, and backing the demonstrations that preceded the January 2023 storming of Brazil's government headquarters. The controversies have only amplified the attention.
