Malcolm John Taylor was born 13 June 1943 in England and first broke through as Mick Travis in Lindsay Anderson's If.... (1968), a schoolboy insurgent he'd play twice more across a decade. That turn caught Kubrick's eye, leading to the role that remade him: Alex in A Clockwork Orange (1971), a droog whose ultraviolence and charm became one of film's indelible masks.
