# Kevin Spacey

> Two Oscars, a Tony, a decade running the Old Vic, and the lead in one of the defining political dramas of the streaming era - then 2017 brought allegations that ended the active career and turned the name itself into a referendum on power, pattern, and what the industry will tolerate.

## Bio

Kevin Spacey Fowler was born July 26, 1959, and built his reputation through precision: a con man in The Usual Suspects won him Best Supporting Actor in 1995, a suburban father's unraveling in American Beauty took Best Actor in 1999. He moved between film (Se7en, L.A. Confidential, Baby Driver) and stage with equal command, winning a Tony in 1991 for Lost in Yonkers and a Laurence Olivier Award in 1999 for The Iceman Cometh. From 2004 to 2015 he served as artistic director of London's Old Vic, earning a knighthood along the way. Then came House of Cards, the Netflix series that made him Frank Underwood and brought a Golden Globe and back-to-back SAG awards between 2013 and 2017. That same year, allegations of sexual misconduct surfaced; production wrapped him out, criminal cases in multiple jurisdictions either dropped or ended in acquittal, but the professional doors stayed closed. He was found not liable in a 2022 New York lawsuit and acquitted by a London jury in 2023, yet the career that once moved freely between continents now exists mostly in past tense.
