## Bio

Katerina Sakellaropoulou was born 30 May 1956 and built a career in the judiciary that took her to the top of Greece's legal hierarchy. She served as president of the Council of State, the highest administrative court in the country, before parliament elected her to succeed Prokopis Pavlopoulos on 22 January 2020. The vote made her Greece's first woman to hold the presidency. She served a five-year term, retiring in 2025.
