Born Jirqo'adai of the Besud clan, part of the Taichud tribe under Targudai Khiriltug, he first faced Genghis Khan as an enemy soldier. After his capture and recruitment, he was given the name Jebe and rose to become one of the Khan's most prominent Noyans. His unorthodox tactics and daring maneuvers expanded the empire's reach across vast distances. Few sources document his campaigns, but military historians have called him "the greatest cavalry general in history." He died around 1224, leaving a legacy measured in the breadth of steppe and conquest rather than written record.
