Jared Leto started on My So-Called Life in 1994, then spent the late '90s in supporting turns—The Thin Red Line, Fight Club, American Psycho—before his lead performance as a drug addict in Requiem for a Dream in 2000 brought critical praise. He shifted focus to music, forming Thirty Seconds to Mars with his brother Shannon in 1998; their second album, A Beautiful Lie, broke them commercially in 2005, and the band has since sold over 15 million records worldwide. He returned to acting with a string of films through the 2000s, then his role as a trans woman in Dallas Buyers Club earned him the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor in 2013. Since then he's appeared in Suicide Squad, Blade Runner 2049, and House of Gucci, while continuing to release polarizing albums with the band into 2023.
