Born 31 December 1985, Smit built a solo career singing Dutch-language palingsound before widening the tent. In 2015 he joined Klubbb3, a schlager trio, and in 2017 signed on with the Toppers, another group act. Television pulled him in as a presenter - he's hosted Beste Zangers and Sterren Muziekfeest op het Plein, both music programs. Since 1999 he's been an ambassador for SOS Children's Villages, a role he's held longer than some of his bandmates have been famous.
