# IU

> She debuted at fifteen and became South Korea's "little sister" - then outgrew the label without losing the charts. Thirty-one number-one singles, more than any other artist in her country, and the only woman in K-pop to headline Seoul's Olympic Stadium alone.

## Bio

Lee Ji-eun signed as a trainee in 2007 and released her first EP at fifteen, but it was "Good Day" in 2010 that turned her into a household name - five weeks at number one, later called the greatest K-pop song of the decade by Billboard. The 2011 albums Real+ and Last Fantasy cemented her girl-next-door image, but her sound matured from there, pulling away from mainstream K-pop as she took control as lyricist and producer. She moved into acting with Dream High in 2011, earning a Best Actress nomination for My Mister in 2018 and critical praise for When Life Gives You Tangerines in 2025. Rolling Stone ranked her the 135th greatest singer of all time in 2023. Forbes Korea named her number one on its Power Celebrity list in 2025, calling her the "Queen of K-pop and K-drama" - a rare solo act in a genre built on groups, holding both industries at once.
