Giuseppe Meazza played mainly for Inter Milan through the 1930s, racking up 284 goals in 408 games and three Serie A titles before shorter stints at Milan, Juventus, Varese, and Atalanta. He led Italy to World Cup wins in 1934 and 1938, wearing the captain's armband in France and joining an exclusive four-man club of Italians with two titles. His technical skill and creative finishing made him Serie A top scorer three times; he hit 100 league goals at 23, still the youngest ever. He finished with 216 Serie A goals, fourth all-time, and 552 in all competitions. After retiring he managed several clubs and took Italy to the 1952 Olympics. On 3 March 1980, six months after his death, Milan renamed San Siro in his honour.
