He was organist at Storkyrkan, the main church of Stockholm, and chief conductor at Kungliga Hovkapellet. Arguably his most accomplished composition is an opera, Il Giudizio d'Aminta, written on the occasion of the birthday of future Empress Catherine the Great of Russia.
