## Bio

Hoffman left the Los Angeles Conservatory of Music for acting training at the Pasadena Playhouse, making his film debut in The Tiger Makes Out in 1967. That same year The Graduate gave him his first Oscar nomination and redrew the boundaries of movie stardom. He won Best Actor twice: for Kramer vs. Kramer in 1979, playing a man navigating divorce, and for Rain Man in 1988 as an autistic savant. Five more nominations followed across Midnight Cowboy, Lenny, Tootsie, and Wag the Dog. In the 21st century he mostly shifted to supporting work - Meet the Fockers, Finding Neverland, The Meyerowitz Stories - and voiced Master Shifu in the Kung Fu Panda series. On stage he played Willy Loman in the 1984 Death of a Salesman revival, earning an Emmy when he reprised it for television a year later.
