## Bio

Born 28 February 1942, Zoff became the backbone of Italy's defence through the late sixties and seventies. He won the 1968 European Championship on home soil, then went 1,142 minutes without allowing a goal in international tournaments between 1972 and 1974 — a stretch ended by Haiti's Emmanuel Sanon at the 1974 World Cup. Eight years later, at 40 years, 4 months and 13 days, he captained Italy to the 1982 World Cup, named best goalkeeper of the tournament and becoming the only Italian to win both that trophy and the Euros. At Juventus he collected six Serie A titles, two Coppa Italia wins, a UEFA Cup, and reached two European Champions' Cup finals. He finished second in the 1973 Ballon d'Or and earned 112 caps for Italy. After hanging up the gloves he managed the national team to the Euro 2000 final and won a UEFA Cup-Coppa Italia double with Juventus in 1989–90.
