Hasselhoff spent seven years as Dr. Snapper Foster on The Young and the Restless before Knight Rider made him the guy who solved crimes with a talking Trans Am from 1982 to 1986. He followed that with Baywatch in 1989, playing lifeguard Mitch Buchannon for over a decade while also producing the show until it ended in 2001. Somewhere in the middle he released fifteen albums that mostly flopped in the U.S. but exploded in German-speaking Europe, where "Looking for Freedom" hit number one in Germany and Switzerland and earned him gold and platinum plaques. He also beat Samuel L. Jackson to Nick Fury in a 1998 telefilm, made his Broadway debut in Jekyll & Hyde in 2000, and spent years as a judge on America's Got Talent and Britain's Got Talent.
