Ashton Dumar Norwill Simmonds, born April 5, 1995, released two independent EPs - Praise Break in 2014 and Pilgrim's Paradise in 2015 - before his 2017 debut album Freudian earned three Grammy nominations and a win for "Best Part" with H.E.R. Case Study 01 followed in 2019, longlisted for the 2020 Polaris Music Prize. In 2021 he landed his first number-one on the Billboard Hot 100 with "Peaches" alongside Giveon and Justin Bieber, pulling four Grammy nominations at the 64th ceremony. Never Enough arrived in 2023 through Republic Records and won his second Juno Award, then 2025's Son of Spergy became his first top-ten on the Billboard 200 and third in Canada. Along the way he's written for Mary J. Blige, SZA, Tyler, the Creator, Shawn Mendes, and Kanye West, and collected four Junos, two Soul Train Music Awards, an MTV VMA, and an ASCAP.
