Chukwuka Ekweani was born 16 July 1995 and took the stage name CKay as a singer, songwriter, and producer out of Nigeria. He came up through Chocolate City's roster and released "Love Nwantiti" in 2019 - a song that simmered quietly before finding global traction years later. On 29 March 2022 it debuted at number one when Billboard launched its Afrobeats chart, then on 9 May became the first African recording to cross one billion Spotify streams. He has since co-founded Boyfriend Music, where he serves as CEO, and moved through Warner's ADA services into Warner Music Africa and Atlantic Records. Manager Asa Asika signed him to The Plug during the song's breakout run.
