Christopher Lee served as a Royal Air Force intelligence officer attached to No. 260 Squadron during the Second World War, working as a liaison for the Special Operations Executive before being discharged in 1946 as a flight lieutenant. He gained fame portraying Count Dracula in seven Hammer Horror films, often appearing opposite his friend Peter Cushing, and his deep commanding voice and screen presence made him the go-to for villainy across generations. The roles grew larger: Francisco Scaramanga in The Man with the Golden Gun (1974), Saruman across both The Lord of the Rings (2001–2003) and The Hobbit (2012–2014) trilogies, Count Dooku in Star Wars (2002–2005), and five collaborations with Tim Burton late in his career. A classically trained singer with a passion for heavy metal, he recorded symphonic metal concept albums portraying Charlemagne in 2010 and 2013, projects that merged spoken word, singing, and dramatic narration into deeply personal work.
