Charlotte McDonnell grew up in Bath and started vlogging as charlieissocoollike in the late 2000s, riding YouTube's first wave to become a defining voice of British online video. She crossed into music with the Doctor Who tribute band Chameleon Circuit and released a solo album, This Is Me, in 2010, before that project dissolved. Through the middle of the decade she directed short films and co-hosted the breakfast show Cereal Time alongside Jimmy Hill from 2015 to 2016, but by December 2018 she'd posted her last YouTube video and pivoted to screenwriting.
