Born May 11, 1989, Cameron Jerrell Newton bounced from Florida to Auburn, where he won the Heisman in 2010 and led the Tigers to a national title. Carolina took him first overall in 2011 and he torched the league immediately, setting rookie records for passing and rushing yards while earning Offensive Rookie of the Year. From 2013 to 2017 he piloted the Panthers to four playoff runs and three division crowns, peaking in 2015 when he claimed MVP and steered the team to 15-1 before falling short in Super Bowl 50. Injuries hollowed out the next four years - one playoff berth, then a release. He spent 2020 with New England, got cut, and circled back to Carolina for a final season in 2021.
