# Bald and Bankrupt

> Benjamin Rich films travel vlogs in post-Soviet spaces and obscure corners most YouTubers skip - crumbling Soviet relics, back-alley markets, babushkas who feed him pickles. His 4.52 million subscribers follow for the unscripted encounters and a lens on places that rarely get one.

## Bio

Rich built his channel around Russia and the former USSR, wandering through forgotten industrial towns and striking up conversations in passable Russian. The format was simple: handheld camera, no script, genuine curiosity. By May 2026 he'd racked up 727 million views across 227 videos. In 2022 Russia deported him and issued a ban after he openly backed Ukraine and raised funds for the country. The channel continues, now roaming other post-Soviet states and overlooked regions where the aesthetic - Soviet decay, eccentric locals, a Brit with a backpack - still plays.
