## Bio

Antony Armstrong-Jones built a name as a photographer long before the titles arrived, his portraits of cultural and political figures filling the pages of Vogue, Vanity Fair, and the major British magazines. More than 280 of those images now sit in the National Portrait Gallery's permanent collection. In 1960 he married Princess Margaret, sister of the Queen, and was created Earl of Snowdon the following year — a commoner elevated to the peerage by matrimony, the only one that century. Between 1968 and 1973 he directed television documentaries and turned his attention to accessibility, advocating for disabled people and pushing design and policy reforms across the United Kingdom. The marriage dissolved in 1978, the first royal divorce in four centuries. He kept working until his death in 2017.
