## Bio

Born in Jakarta in 1974, Anggun cut a children's album at nine and became a teen rock sensation by the late 1980s, releasing five Indonesian studio albums by 1993. Rolling Stone later named her breakthrough single "Mimpi" among the 150 Greatest Indonesian Songs of All Time. She left for Europe in 1994 and recorded Snow on the Sahara in 1997 - Sony released it in 33 countries, it moved over a million copies, and her singles began appearing on American and European Billboard charts. Six more studio albums followed in English and French, plus a Danish film soundtrack in 2002. She represented France at Eurovision 2012 with "Echo (You and I)", judged TV competitions across three continents (Asia's Got Talent, The X Factor Indonesia, French Masked Singer, Belgian Starmaker), and took on screen and stage roles from American series Reacher to the French musical Al Capone and an Italian revival of Jesus Christ Superstar. The UN named her a global ambassador twice - for microcredit in 2005 and the FAO in 2009.
