Andrew Stephen Roddick was born August 30, 1982, and turned pro with a serve clocked north of 150 mph and the hunger to match. He broke through in 2003, winning the US Open and closing the year ranked No. 1. That peak was brief - 13 weeks total - but he stayed in the year-end top 10 from 2002 through 2010, leading the United States to the 2007 Davis Cup title and racking up 32 singles titles. Four more major finals followed (Wimbledon in 2004, 2005, and 2009, the US Open in 2006), and Federer was waiting at the net each time. Roddick retired after the 2012 US Open to run the Andy Roddick Foundation, played for the Austin Aces in 2015, and entered the Hall of Fame in 2017.
