## Bio

Andrew Thomas Weil was born June 8, 1942, and trained as a doctor before breaking with orthodox medicine's refusal to consider anything outside the prescription pad. He spent decades making the case for integrative medicine - a framework that treats conventional and alternative approaches not as enemies but as tools in the same box, each with its place. The argument found an audience large enough to make him a celebrity doctor, a term that captures both his visibility and the skepticism that trails anyone who straddles two worlds that don't trust each other. He remains a flashpoint: to some a bridge-builder, to others a dangerous blurring of lines that should stay sharp.
